Wednesday works: 15 graded winners are on the tab
Eight-year-old Goliad, winner of two graded stakes last year, worked at Santa Anita on Wednesday ahead of a planned start in Monday's Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile.
The gelded son of War Front went four furlongs in 47.6 seconds, fastest of 14 at the distance. In his last five works, he went six furlongs, with three of those trips on Santa Anita's synthetic track.
The Shoemaker Mile would be the 2025 debut for Goliad, who is trained by Richard Mandella. He was 11th in last year's edition of the race but went on to win his next two starts, including the Mint Millions (G3) at Kentucky Downs.
