Wednesday works: 10 graded-stakes winners are on the tab
Next, unraced since finishing 14th in the 2024 Breeders' Cup Classic, continued to drill for trainer Doug Cowans on Wednesday morning.
The 8-year-old gelding by Not This Time breezed six furlongs in 1:14.6 on the Turfway Park synthetic, the only worker at the track and distance.
Before the 2024 Classic, Next had won seven straight starts, from 1 3/8 miles to 1 1/2 miles. Cowans told Daily Racing Form in March that he hadn't intended to return Next to training, but that "he’s happier at the track than the farm.” He hadn't decided when or where Next might make his return.
