Wednesday tab: Hoosier Philly drills for Charles Town Oaks
Hoosier Philly worked at Churchill Downs on Wednesday in preparation for the Grade 3 Charles Town Oaks.
The 3-year-old filly trained by Tom Amoss drew attention last fall with a 3-for-3 start. Then she went 0-for-3 to start 2023, including a rallying second-place finish in the Black-Eyed Susan (G2). The daughter of Into Mischief got back on track with a 3 1/2-length win over Wet Paint in the Monomoy Girl Overnight at Ellis Park on June 17.
She worked once at Churchill Downs after that race, then once at Saratoga on July 12. Amoss told Horse Racing Nation on Wednesday that there wasn't a race for her at Saratoga, so he brought her back to her home base to work ahead of the Aug. 25 race at Charles Town.
In Wednesday’s work, she breezed four furlongs in 48.6 seconds, fastest of 58 at the distance.
