Wednesday works: Locked leads 6 graded winners on tab

Locked, who finished fourth last time out in the Grade 2 Alysheba on May 2, makes his return to the worktab at Churchill Downs.

The 4-year-old son of Gun Runner breezed four furlongs Wednesday morning for trainer Brad Cox in 53.5 seconds, the slowest of 11 at the distance. 

Locked won the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) in March prior to his Alysheba (G2) start on May 2. He started his 2025 campaign winding up second in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1).

Locked was one of six graded-stakes winners with published works on Wednesday.

Kopion (Omaha Beach), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2025 Derby City Distaff, 2024 La Brea), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Wednesday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 19 works at the distance. Her previous work was nine days ago going three furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she won the Derby City Distaff (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 3 for trainer Richard Mandella.

Locked (Gun Runner), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2025 Santa Anita Handicap, 2023 Breeders' Futurity), worked four furlongs in 53.5 seconds at Saratoga on Wednesday morning. It was the slowest of 11 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in the Alysheba (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 2 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

First Mission (Street Sense), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2025 Oaklawn Handicap, 2024 Alysheba), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he won the Oaklawn Handicap (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on April 19 for trainer Brad Cox.

Guildsman (Wootton Bassett), a Grade 3 winner (2020 Franklin-Simpson), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Woodbine on Wednesday morning. It was the third fastest of four works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Woodbine. In his last start he won a starter allowance race going six furlongs on the synthetic at Woodbine on Dec. 3 for trainer Martin Drexler.

La Mehana (Al Wukair), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Waya), worked five furlongs in 1:05.0 at Saratoga on Wednesday morning. It was the fourth fastest of seven works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed fourth in the Sheepshead Bay (G3) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Belmont at the Big A on May 2 for trainer Christophe Clement.

Mo Plex (Complexity), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Sanford), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Saratoga on Wednesday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 20 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he won the Bay Shore going seven furlongs on the main track at Aqueduct on April 19 for trainer Jeremiah Englehart.
