Favored Wednesday was the star of Thursday’s program at Betfair Hollywood Park, winning the $54,000 allowance feature in her Cushion Track debut.

In her first appearance since finishing second behind Jubliant Girl in the Runway Stakes on the Santa Anita turf April 13, Wednesday won after a pace-pressing trip under jockey Rafael Bejarano.

Content to track longshot On Golden Pawn down the backstretch, the 3-year-old Medaglia d’Oro filly gained a slight lead before a half-mile had been run, repelled a challenge from 19-10 second choice Biorhythm and held Gifting safe in the final sixteenth.

Trained by Carla Gaines for Swift Thoroughbreds, Inc., Wednesday earned her second win in seven starts. The $70,000 yearling purchase, who has been worse than third only once, has earned $109,940.

Out of the Crafty Prospector mare Chandelle, Wednesday completed the 6 ½ furlongs in 1:17.84. She paid $5.40, $2.80 and $2.10 while prevailing by 1 ¾ lengths as the 17-10 choice.

Gifting, who had collected her maiden victory in her Betfair Hollywood Park debut May 18, finished a head in front of 6-1 fourth choice Corlett Drive. Gifting returned $3.60 and $2.20 while the show price on Corlett Drive was $2.80. Biorhythm and On Golden Pawn completed the order of finish. Malibu Honey scratched.
