Best bet: Flash Frozen, race 5

Best value bet: Crossati, race 2

Race 1

No. 7 High Water Mark (9-5, morning-line favorite) adds Lasix while dropping down – the one to beat off his last-out speed figure. No. 3 New Plex (7-2) will try to carry over some solid turf figures onto the dirt while adding both Lasix and blinkers. His lone prior dirt try was vs. much tougher foes. No. 1 Jr Sergio (12-1) is the best of the rest.

How I’d bet it, based on a $100 budget: $10 exacta box 3/7

Race 2

No. 5 Crossati (6-1) returns to dirt while taking a big drop in class. She gets Samy Camacho aboard, winning at a 21 percent clip, and the top-notch rider had multiple options in this race. No. 3 Lucky Flay (3-1, morning-line favorite) was a game third in a similar spot last time out, drilled well in a recent tune-up work and lures Jose Ferrer (18 percent). No. 6 Jazz N Blues (7-2) also is logical based on her last two speed figures.

How I’d bet it: $10 win/place 5

Race 3

No. 7 Murumbi (5-2, morning-line favorite) could get an ideal setup from off the pace and goes first off the claim for Jon Arnett (24 percent). The daughter of Klimt already has two victories at the meet. No. 8 Inouaintalkintome (6-1) gets class relief and boasts some solid dirt route efforts on the resume. No. 3 Lady Dominance (15-1) stretches out going first off the Pablo Torres claim, which could help the late closer pick up a share. No. 6 Simmering (7-2) wasn’t beaten all that much by the top choice two-back.

How I’d bet it: $4 exacta 7/3,6,8, $1 exacta key box 7/6,8, $1 exacta box 7/8, $2 win 3

Race 5

No. 3 Flash Frozen (2-1, morning-line favorite) was a bit green but won at first asking anyway. The follow-up work for Kathleen O’Connell was encouraging, and Lasix is added. No. 4 Sinetic (3-1) is proven vs. winners, but not going this far, as Daniel Centeno gets a leg up. No. 8 Emmett (7-2) beat just four others in a similar spot last time out, but it’s hard to knock the connections in Camacho and Jose D’Angelo.

How I’d bet it: $10 exacta 3/4,8

Race 7

No. 1 Doc Amster (5-1) exits back-to-back seconds at this level and sheds significant weight with hot-riding apprentice Christian Maragh (18 percent). No. 8 Fit to Fly (3-1, morning-line favorite) invades off a well-rated win at Fair Grounds for the ever-dangerous Larry Rivelli. No. 6 Mor Spring Spirit (5-1) will take them as far as he can.

How I’d bet it: $10 exacta 1/8, $5 exacta 1/6, $5 exacta 8/1
