Watch: Winx goes 'through her gears' in racetrack gallop
Working toward her anticipated career finale, Australian star mare Winx on Saturday appeared for a racetrack gallop at Randwick Racecourse, over which she'll look to post a 33rd straight victory next weekend.
"Everything looks good to me," said trainer Chris Waller, who had jockey Hugh Bowman was in the irons.
"...I just told Hugh to give her a nice workout and to let her go through her gears."
The 8-year-old by Street Cry registered her final three furlongs in a swift 34.67 seconds. Bowman called it "a very straightforward piece of work."
Winx will be in search of her third straight Queen Elizabeth victory and appeared in peak form last time at her Rosehill base, cantering home two weeks ago in the George Ryder (G1) despite a wide trip.
With Winx to begin her career as a broodmare once finished racing, connections are researching a stallion with which to pair her.
