Watch Me Go Stuns Brethren in TB Derby

Sam Davis show finisher Watch Me Go turned the tables on Brethren to win Saturday's Tampa Bay Derby (G3).

Brethren sat an outside stalking trip in the Sam Davis but Ramon Dominguez sent him after the lead through reasonable fractions of :23.73, :48.20, and 1:12.60 with Watch Me Go and Crimson Knight in striking position throughout.

The top three raced as a team turning for home but Dominguez was not getting the response he expected from Brethren. Watch Me Go and Crimson Knight gradually pulled away from the favorite with the former prevailing by a neck under Luis Garcia. The winning time was 1:44.25.

Crimson Knight was 3-1/4 lengths clear of Brethren with Beamer, Economic Summit, Free Entry, Too Experience, Striding Ahead, and a fractious Moonhanger completing the order of finish.

Watch Me Go lit up the tote to the tune of $89.40 and the exacta with 86-1 shot Crimson Knight was worth a cool $2,194.20.

The winner, a 3-year-old West Acre colt out of Deputy Minister mare Sabbath Song, is conditioned by Kathleen O'Connell and earned $210,000 on Saturday.
