Bob Baffert entrusted Dana Barnes to ride a number of his top horses over the years, including Arrogate, who her calm hands harnessed into a record-setting Travers Stakes (G1) winner who took the 2017 Dubai World Cup (G1) in historic fashion.

Having recently called it a career after more than 20 years working for Baffert along with her husband, assistant trainer Jim Barnes, Dana Barnes is now helping out her fellow retirees.

I Am Horse Racing, the movement designed to illustrate the industry's love of the game, highlighted Barnes in its latest video feature, which illustrates her new ownership of Karl Watson and Paul Weitman homebred Show Me Da Lute.

"I miss the horses so bad. You miss seeing them every day and their personalities," said Barnes, who took Show Me Da Lute from the shedrow into her care back in May. "I really never have taken a horse off the track, so we're just going to go every day, day by day. We'll give him a nice, big paddock to get turned out in and see how he is."

According to the piece, Show Me Da Lute is spending the summer with Barnes in Del Mar, taking a daily trail ride as the son of Midnight Lute settles into life away from the racetrack. He won once in 11 starts and retired sound.

Show Me Da Lute's story is the first in a series of "What's Next" aftercare features from the I Am Horse Racing group.
