Warm Breeze Switches Surfaces in Monrovia

Photo:

Warm Breeze will make her turf debut when she runs in Sunday’s Grade II Monrovia Stakes for older fillies and mares at about 6 ½ furlongs.

“The owners kind of always wanted to try her on turf,” said Simon Callaghan, who trains the daughter of Street Sense for David Mowat’s Ten Broeck Farm. “She’s got some turf pedigree and worked back East on the turf and apparently very well. She’s only been with me for one run.”

That came at Del Mar, when the well-traveled 4-year-old bay filly ran an even fourth at seven furlongs on Polytrack Nov. 28.

She has a 3-1-1 record from 14 starts at eight different race tracks: Oaklawn Park, Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Ellis Park, Indiana Grand Racing & Casino, Fair Grounds, Del Mar and Santa Anita.
