Finished sculptures weigh more than 1,800 pounds and are seven feet tall and six feet wide.

Gates open Saturday at 11 a.m. The featured race will be the $300,000 Barbara Fritchie Handicap (G2). The Winter Carnival runs through Monday, Feb. 16 and includes giveaways, prizes totaling $2,500 hidden in an ice wall, and an ice bar with drink specials.
