Jockeys’ Guild Chairman John Velazquez was released from North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., on Sunday evening.  On Monday, he saw his personal doctor, Dr. Stephen O’Brien.

Velazquez suffered an injury to his first rib on his right side and chipped the radius bone on his right wrist during the 7th race at Aqueduct on Sunday.  Doctor O’Brien stated that the injuries will heal on their own and he can resume riding in three weeks.  Velazquez plans to start riding on the Wednesday of the week of the Kentucky Derby.

Velazquez and his wife, Leona, would like to give thanks to everybody who sent well wishes since the time of his injuries.  The calls, texts, and all of the thoughts and prayers were greatly appreciated.  “We just wanted to thank everyone for the messages,” Johnny said.  “I’m doing real well.”
