Updated Kentucky Derby odds: Journalism at 3-1, Sandman 9-2

In advance wagering for Kentucky Derby 2025 Friday morning, Journalism had odds of 3-1, equal to his morning line.

With $1,438,912 in the win pool at 8:10 a.m. EDT, Sandman was the second choice at 9-2. The winner of the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby was set at 6-1 on the morning line.

Sovereignty, the second choice on the morning line at 5-1, was 9-1 Friday, longer than his morning line but shorter than his Thursday price.

Kentucky Derby 2025: Ranking the field from 1st to last

The next shortest prices Friday morning belonged to a trio of horses, all 12-1 on the board. Virginia Derby runner-up Render Judgment was 12-1 off of a 30-1 morning line as was Virginia Derby winner American Promise, and Japan road to the Kentucky Derby qualifier Luxor Cafe sat at 12-1 off of a 15-1 morning line.

Neoequos, 30-1 on the morning line, was the longest shot on the board at 47-1.

Burnham Square, winner of the Blue Grass (G1) in his most recent start, was 16-1, longer than his 12-1 morning-line price but shorter than his Thursday odds.

Rodríguez was announced Thursday as scratched, while Grande was also taken out Friday morning. Baeza, originally on the also-eligible list, is expected to run.
