Journalism, the star of the West Coast spur of the road to Kentucky Derby 2025, continued to be a well-defined favorite in betting for the race.

At about 6:30 p.m. EDT Saturday with $61,098,078 in the pool, Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Journalism was at 7-2 on the tote off of his 3-1 morning-line odds.

Sandman was 5-1 on Saturday, still shorter than his 6-1 morning line. The other runners at single-digit odds Saturday were Luxor Café, bet down to 8-1 from a 15-1 morning line, and Sovereignty, 9-1 off of his 5-1 morning line.

Three horses were the longest shots in the field at 40-1. They were UAE Derby (G2) winner Admire Daytona, Blue Grass (G1) runner-up East Avenue at 39-1, Florida Derby (G1) third-place finisher Neoequos, and Owen Almighty, sixth last out in the Blue Grass and 30-1 on the morning line.

Rodríguez was scratched Thursday, and Grande was taken out Friday morning. Baeza, originally on the also-eligible list, joins the field.

Post time for the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs is 6:57 p.m. Saturday.
