Updated Kentucky Derby 2018 odds: The Wynn trims its list
With early Triple Crown nominations released and the 2018 Kentucky Derby prep season nearing its peak, the Wynn Las Vegas has significantly reduced its list of betting interests in recent weeks.
In new odds dated for Sunday and distributed Tuesday, just more than 200 horses are listed — still plenty to process, but a much clearer picture of which hopefuls may qualify for the race.
As for contenders, the Wynn’s favorites are multiple Grade 1 winner Bolt d’Oro (7-1), undefeated McKinzie (8-1) and 2-year-old champion Good Magic (12-1).
As for prices on last weekend’s top performers, Grade 2 Holy Bull winner Audible sits a 15-1 fourth choice. Grade 3 Withers winner Avery Island is 30-1, with Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis winner Lombo 65-1.
From the maiden ranks, Friday winner Restoring Hope — a Bob Baffert trainee he said is bound for stakes next out — plummeted to 30-1, while there could be value in Once On Whiskey at 225-1. He was defeated but a strong late runner behind maiden winner Curly’s Rocket, who’s 100-1. Both of those two are newly listed this week.
