Updated 2019 Kentucky Derby odds: Who's the favorite?

In advanced wagering for the 2019 Kentucky Derby, each of Game Winner, Tacitus, Improbable and finally Maximum Security took over the role of race favorite. So, who will go off as the shortest price Saturday at Churchill Downs, looking to extend a streak of six straight winning top choices?

At this final early look at the tote board, the Florida Derby (G1) winner Maximum Security is alone as the 4-1 favorite, though Improbable, the recent Arkansas Derby (G1) runner-up, is 9-2 and taking money in other pools, indicating he could wind up the top choice.

Trained by Jason Servis, Maximum Security is a son of New Year's Day who actually blew out a quarter mile on Saturday morning at Churchill Downs, where clocker John Nichols caught him in 11.4 and 23.1 seconds from the 7 1/2-furlong pole to the 5 1/2-furlong pole.

Improbable ran in the type of sloppy conditions similar to what they could see Saturday at Churchill Downs, where rain has moved in. The track could wind up sloppy, and the Bob Baffert trainee was only a length back of now-scratched Omaha Beach last time out.

Tacitus is next on the board at 5-1, with Game Winner at 6-1. All other contenders are priced in the double digits.
