Union Rags to skip Preakness, point to Belmont

On Tuesday, the Union Rags team comprised of owner Phyllis Wyeth, trainer Michael Matz, and advisor Russell Jones met at Fair Hill and decided that colt would skip the Preakness and point to the Belmont on June 9, reports Dick Jerardi at Philadelphia Daily News. The group decided that Union Rags could use more time between races and that the wide, sweeping turns of Belmont would suit his long stride. A decision on which jockey will ride Union Rags will be made after the Preakness.
