Trainer Chad Brown’s Uni made a late move to run down Newspaperofrecord and capture a repeat win in the Grade 1, $350,000 First Lady (G1) going one mile on turf at Keeneland on Saturday.

After sitting well off the pace, Uni rallied down the middle of the stretch to surge past stablemate Newspaperofrecord and hold off Beau Recall to win by a length. Uni returned $6.80 for the win.

“She’s nice to ride,” said winning jockey Joel Rosario. “She’s easy. Thanks to Chad Brown and all of his people for the opportunity.”

The win was Uni’s first of 2020. Most recently, she was seventh in the Fourstardave (G1) at Saratoga.

Splits for the race were :23.89, :47.92, 1:12.48 and 1:23.56. The winning time was 1:34.90.

Uni is a 6-year-old daughter of More Than Ready out of Unaided, by Dansili. With the win, she earns a spot in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Keeneland.
