Three lifetime starts, three lifetime victories for My Master Plan. The 2-year-old filly continued her perfect Remington Park season by winning the $50,550 E.L. Gaylord Memorial Stakes for freshman fillies at 6-1/2 furlongs.

Owned and bred in Texas by Dan McGough of Granbury, Texas, My Master Plan is trained by Donnie Von Hemel and was patiently ridden by Luis Quinonez. The heavy wagering favorite at 3-5 odds, My Master Plan was trapped behind four rivals with a quarter-mile left in the Gaylord. Quinonez had to wait for room at the top of the stretch and then swing wide around rivals once an opportunity presented itself.

Sajara set the early pace, handling a quarter-mile in :21.97 seconds a half-mile in :44.76 seconds, but could not maintain the advantage as the field of nine turned for home. D R C’s Pretty Sky emerged with the advantage with a furlong left but she could not hold off the determined My Master Plan who worked past to win by 1-1/2 furlongs in 1:17.67 over a good main track.

My Master Plan paid $3.40 to win, $2.60 to place and $2.20 to show. D R C’s Pretty Sky paid $10.80 to place and $6 to show. Another Bond Girl rallied for third, a head behind the runner-up, to pay $8.60 to show.

A daughter by Oratory from the Vice Regent mare One O Seven, My Master Plan made $30,000 for her Gaylord triumph to run her career total to $70,767.

The Gaylord Memorial is named in honor of the late chairman and publisher of The Oklahoman, the state’s largest newspaper. E.L. Gaylord was a staunch supporter of Remington Park in the track’s early history.
