Report: Undefeated Arc winner Ace Impact is retired at age 3
Ace Impact, winner of the Group 1 Prix d l'Arc de Triomphe and undefeated in six starts in France, was retired and will stand at Haras de Beaumont stud in Normandy, Racing Post reported.
He was named the top 3-year-old in the world's best racehorse rankings released Thursday and the second-best horse overall, behind Equinox.
The Arc was the most recent win for the 3-year-old Ireland-bred colt. It followed a record-setting win in the Prix du Jockey Club (G1) and another in the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano (G2).
Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, the son of Cracksman began his career in January with a maiden win at Cagnes-sur-mer in southeastern France. An allowance win at Bordeaux Le Bouscat followed, and then it was on to Chantilly, where he won the Prix de Suresnes.
Rouget and co-owners Serge Stempniak and the Chehboub family considered shipping the horse to the Japan Cup or keeping him in training for an international campaign next year, according to Racing Post. But they opted to retire him while he was healthy and sound.
Bought as a yearling for $88,442, he had earnings of $4,249,849.
