Uncle Mo looks dominant at 1-5 in Wood Memorial

Uncle Mo will try to follow in the footsteps of 11 others who captured the Wood Memorial en route to a Kentucky Derby victory in May.  The undefeated son of Indian Charlie was made the 1-5 morning line favorite against 9 other overmatched rivals.
The only other stakes winners in the field are Toby's Corner, who won the Whirlaway in February at Aqueduct, and Preachintothedevil, who took the NY-bred Champagneforashley Stakes on New Year's Day at Aqueduct.
In terms of speed figures, Uncle Mo towers over the field.  He has broken the 100 barrier twice, earning a 102 Beyer in his debut and a 108 for his Breeders' Cup Juvenile win.  His worst figure was an 89, which was earned in his 3-year-old debut in the Timely Writer, but even that figure is tops in this field.  Toby's Corner did receive an 88 for his Whirlaway win, the only figure that even remotely approaches Uncle Mo.  The next best figure is an 83 that Norman Asbjornson got for his Gotham runner-up finish.
Toby's Corner was installed as the 8-1 second choice, the only other horse listed in single digit odds.
A total of 20 horses have gone on from the Wood to win the Kentucky Derby.  The most recent was Funny Cide in 2003.
