TwinSpires Launches Melbourne Cup Promotion

TwinSpires.com, the official online wagering company of Churchill Downs Incorporated (NASDAQ: CDHN) and the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks, is partnering with Wyvern International Ltd., the exclusive provider of Australian Racing™ to North America, to offer TwinSpires.com players the opportunity to win up to $10,000 in the Carnival to the Cup Challenge.

TwinSpires.com players will be able to earn shares in a $1,000 prize pool during Australia’s Spring Carnival every Friday night from Oct. 7-28 by making a winning $10 wager on up to four selected races. On Emirates Melbourne Cup Day, Monday, Oct. 31, there will be a $5,000-prize pool available to those players who earned shares during the Carnival to the Cup Challenge on Friday nights. There will also be a $1,000-bonus pool available to the player or players who earned the most shares in the Carnival races on Friday nights.

“Australian Racing has been growing in popularity with TwinSpires.com players, and it’s easy to understand why because this product offers two key attributes players greatly value: turf racing and full fields,” TwinSpires.com Vice President of Marketing Jeremy Clemons said. “The $10,000 Carnival to the Cup Challenge will offer TwinSpires.com players tremendous added value, and it will feature some of the most prestigious racing in the world, including the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate, Victoria Derby and the race that stops a nation—the Emirates Melbourne Cup.”
“Online wagering has directly correlated to increased success for Australian Racing in North America, and with the advent of night racing, we have seen added support from the greater wagering community,” Ashley Walker, director of communications for Australian Racing noted. “TwinSpires.com has been helpful every step of the way, and we feel the Carnival to the Cup Challenge is an excellent way to highlight our top-shelf racing and generate more interest in not only the Victorian Spring Carnival, but also the nightly product we produce year round.”
