Turfway Park will shift Saturday races from day to night
Racing under the lights will be consistent across the Turfway Park racing week with the first post time Saturdays shifting from 12:45 p.m. to 5:55 p.m. EST starting next weekend.
The lone exception to the new Saturday post will be March 25 for Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) day, when the card will be conducted during the afternoon.
The current meet runs through Saturday, April 1. Live racing will be conducted at the suburban Cincinnati track Wednesday-Saturday until Feb. 28. After that it will be Thursday-Saturday from March 2 until the end of the meet.
This is the first full season of racing at Turfway Park since Churchill Downs Inc. rebuilt the 2,500-seat grandstand in a $100 million project. The old grandstand was torn down after the 2019-20 meet that was cut short at the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
CDI bought Turfway Park from Jack Ohio in a $46 million deal that was announced in October 2019. The company replaced the synthetic track with an $8.1 million Tapeta Footings surface in 2020. It also spent $31 million to renovate the stable area and the dormitories that serve as homes for seasonal workers at the Florence, Ky., racecourse.
