Turf Sprint Features Defending Champ Chamberlain Bridge
Saturday's wide open Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint includes a full field of
fourteen headed by defending champion Chamberlain Bridge.
Chamberlain Bridge will break from post 14 for trainer Bret Calhoun and
the 7-year-old gelding is 4-for-6 over the Churchill Downs weeds. He has
dropped four straight but showed some signs of life when last seen at
Parx Sept 5.
Regally Ready is the 3-1 morning
line favorite and figures in the hunt throughout. The Steve Asmussen
runner has won five turf sprints this year including the G1 Nearctic at
Woodbine on October 16. He captured both turf sprint starts at
Churchill.
California Flag bring speed to
the table and got back on the beam in G3 Morvich at Santa Anita last
time. He disappointed in last year's Turf Sprint and does not seem to be
the same horse away from Southern California.
Another California invader with a big chance is
Caracortado.
The hard trying gelding has been knocking heads with graded turf route
runners all year and just got up in G2 Del Mar Mile in August. He won
his lone turf sprint try last November and should be finishing fast
under Joe Talamo.
The Turf Sprint field also includes Grand Adventure, Holiday For Kitten,
Broken Dreams, Perfect Officer, Great Attack, Hoofit, Rapport,
Havelock, Country Day, and Camp Victory.
