Tuesday’s 7th race from Sunland Park (2-13-18) is a $25,600 Allowance event for 3-year-olds which have never won two races. They will be dashing six and one-half furlongs on the main track.
#4 Trooper (7-2) shipped to New Mexico and promptly graduated from off the pace in a local six panel straight maiden affair Jan. 13. He stretched out and split a 10-horse stakes field last out and is back in a preferred sprint 3rd off the shelf.
#3 Ministersdontparty (3-1) earned his diploma right out of the box in a CA-bred dirt sprint at Del Mar last summer. He shows up in the sharp Dominguez barn in New Mexico after of trio of failed state bred stakes tries and should show speed. Dominguez also saddles SoCal transplant #7 Handsome Swede (6-1). The latter graduated in a CA-bred maiden claimer at Los Al last year and looms a pace factor at the very least.
#1 Bortstein (6-1) is back in a preferred sprint after back-to-back failed efforts at one mile. He ran 1-2 in each of his three dirt sprints, Eikleberry is 7-for-15 with Evans recently, and he can bounce back from off the pace 3rd off the shelf.
