Tuesday's Best Bet: Treasury Bill the pick at Indiana Grand
Handicapper: Reinier

Track: Indiana Grand
Race 3 – Post Time 3:01 p.m. ET
After two runner-up Best Bet picks at Belmont Park (Odin’s Steed, Made You Look), it is time to look at Indiana Grand once more. On the Tuesday card, fans might recognize one older 8-year-old horse in Race 3 named Treasury Bill.
The former stakes horse who once sold for $230,000 at auction and finished runner-up in the 2013 San Vicente Stakes (G2) now competes against seven other horses in a one mile and seventy yard optional claimer.
Here is why Treasure Bill will win.
#2 Treasury Bill (4-1) – While this old pro lost his last start locally after a sharp closing move, the pace worked against him. Pacesetter Thulean set a 48.10 half and had everything going his way, and Treasury Bill started from behind and needed to overcome those fractions. He did not get the job done and ultimately flattened out a bit to third, but give him another chance. TimeformUS' Pace Projector thinks the early fractions will be moderate, and that should help him here.
#7 Ain’t Misbehavin (6-1) – He ran in the same race as Treasury Bill last time and chased the pacesetter through those slow fractions. When it came time to run, he ranged up on the outside and got cut off by Treasury Bill in the stretch. Subsequently, Treasury Bill got disqualified and this horse moved up to third. Would he have really picked up third, though? It is a good question to ask. While Treasury Bill ran the better race, give Ain’t Misbehavin a look as well. Most of his prior numbers fit.
#1 Bobby the Brain (8/5) – Tom Amoss trains this horse, and the numbers are consistent. Plus, this runner ran in two straight Churchill races and might enjoy the competition at Indiana a little better (although he ran third in his last Indiana start). He is win possibility.
#1A More On Tap (8/5) – Bobby the Brain’s entrymate appears nearly identical on
speed figures. He is also projected to sit in the same close-range stalking
position. Again, Amoss is a great trainer and anytime he starts a horse at
Indiana, bettors should be aware.
#6 Thulean (3-1) – He gets some credit for hanging tough and not letting Treasury Bill pass him for second. It is possible he can sneak into a good trip up front and steal the race here, but just know that Treasury Bill ran a more impressive race.
#4 Luvinmeiseasy (8-1) – Check out that 111 TimeformUS Speed Figure on March 17. Can he duplicate that? He failed in four starts afterwards. But it would not be a surprise to see him pop up with another one.
#5 Pitch Count (15-1) – Despite the long odds, it is possible for him to hit the board. A couple of his past speed figures broke 100 at least.
#3 Wildcard Prado (8-1) - Tough read. His numbers are low. With only two career starts though, it is not hard to see him move up quickly.
The Plays:
Trifecta – 2 / 1,3,4,5,6,7 / 1,3,4,5,6,7
*If any of the horses scratch, then the trifecta strategy might not be the best value. More betting interests means a higher payoff.
