Tuesday works: Iroquois winner West Saratoga leads tab
West Saratoga, the first horse to win a race on the road to the 2024 Kentucky Derby, returned to the work tab Tuesday afternoon. The winner of the Grade 3 Iroquois drilled four furlongs in 50.2 seconds on the dirt at trainer Larry Demeritte's home base, The Thoroughbred Center.
The victory in the Iroquois earned West Saratoga 10 points on the road to the Kentucky Derby, as well as $30,000 toward Breeders' Cup entry fees. West Saratoga is one of 33 horses nominated to the Breeders' Futurity (G1) at Keeneland on Oct. 7. That race awards 10-5-3-2-1 points to its top five finishers, just as the Iroquois did, and offers its winner an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.
