Tuesday tab: Silver Prospector fires a bullet at Fair Grounds

Silver Prospector, unraced since May, has been training at Fair Grounds like he's quite ready to return.

The 6-year-old son of Declaration of War, winner of last year's Grade 3 Steve Sexton Mile, breezed five furlongs Tuesday morning in 1:00.0, fastest of 11 the the distance. It was his fifth work at Fair Grounds, and he's been the fastest or second-fastest in each.

Silver Prospector was one of 13 graded-stakes winners with published works in the U.S. on Tuesday.

Therapist (Freud), a Grade 1 winner (2023 United Nations), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Fair Grounds on Tuesday morning. It was the 28th fastest of 56 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going five furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he placed seventh in the Sycamore (G3) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 13 for trainer Mike Maker.

Astronaut (Quality Road), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2022 Red Smith, 2021 Del Mar Handicap), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Del Mar on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of five works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed seventh in the Hollywood Turf Cup (G2) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 24 for trainer John Shirreffs.

Masteroffoxhounds (War Front), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2022 John Henry Turf Championship, 2021 San Marcos), worked three furlongs in 38.0 seconds at Del Mar on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of four works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed 13th in the Breeders' Cup Mile going one mile on the turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 4 for trainer Phil D'Amato.

Didia (Orpen), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Rodeo Drive), worked four furlongs in 52.0 seconds at Keeneland on Tuesday morning. It was the slowest of four works at the distance. Her previous work was five days ago going three furlongs at Keeneland. In her last start she placed 10th in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 4 for trainer Ignacio Correas.

Scaramouche (Munnings), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Gallant Bob), worked five furlongs in 1:01.9 at Gulfstream Park on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of five works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in an allowance race going seven furlongs on the main track at Aqueduct on Nov. 17 for trainer Guadalupe Preciado.

His previous work was six days ago going three furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed eighth in the Arlington Million (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Colonial Downs on Aug. 12 for trainer Michael Stidham.

Champions Dream (Justify), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Nashua), worked five furlongs in 1:03.0 at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 15 works at the distance.
