Tuesday tab: Seize the Grey drills ahead of Jim Dandy start

Preakness winner Seize the Grey worked four furlongs Tuesday morning at Saratoga ahead of a start Saturday in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy.

The D. Wayne Lukas trainee hasn't raced since finishing ninth in the Belmont Stakes, which was his third race in five weeks. 

On Tuesday, he breezed four furlongs in 47.9 seconds on the training track, the fastest of three works at the distance and surface. It was his fifth work since the Belmont.

Seize the Grey was one of six graded-stakes winners with published works Tuesday.

Seize the Grey (Arrogate), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Preakness), worked four furlongs in 47.9 seconds at Saratoga on Tuesday morning. It was the fastest of three works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going six furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he placed seventh in the Belmont going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on June 8 for trainer D. Wayne Lukas.

Coffee in Bed (Curlin), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Santa Maria), worked six furlongs in 1:13.0 at Del Mar on Tuesday morning. It was the fastest of three works at the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she placed second in the Santa Margarita (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on May 26 for trainer Richard Mandella.

Señor Buscador (Mineshaft), a Grade 2 winner (2023 San Diego Handicap), worked four furlongs in 50.6 seconds at Del Mar on Tuesday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 16 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going four furlongs at San Luis Rey. In his last start he placed third in the Dubai World Cup (G1) going about 1 1/4 miles on the dirt at Meydan Racecourse on March 30 for trainer Todd Fincher.

Linda's Gift (Arrogate), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2024 Santa Ana, 2023 Red Carpet), worked six furlongs in 1:14.8 at Del Mar on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of three works at the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she won the Possibly Perfect going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on June 15 for trainer Richard Mandella.

Frost Free (Frosted), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Chick Lang), worked five furlongs in 1:02.6 at Double M Training Center on Tuesday morning. It was the only work at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed 11th in the Woody Stephens (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on June 8 for trainer Brett Creighton.

Visually (Enticed), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Senorita), worked four furlongs in 47.4 seconds at Turfway Park on Tuesday morning. It was the fastest of 20 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed sixth in the Pea Patch going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Ellis Park on July 6 for trainer Librado Barocio.
