Tuesday tab: Rocket Can leads 11 graded-stakes winners

Rocket Can, unraced since finishing ninth in the 2023 Kentucky Derby, continued working at Payson Park on Tuesday for trainer Bill Mott.

The son of Into Mischief started 2023 with a win in the Grade 3 Holy Bull, then was second to Forte in the Fountain of Youth (G2) and fourth in the Arkansas Derby (G1).

After a couple of works last summer, he was off the tab until Jan. 15, when he returned to training at Payson Park. On Tuesday, he breezed four furlongs in 49.8 seconds.

Smile Happy (Runhappy), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2023 Alysheba, 2021 Kentucky Jockey Club), worked four furlongs in 48.2 seconds at Silverleaf Hills Training Center on Tuesday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed sixth in the Louisiana (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Jan. 20 for trainer Kenny McPeek.

Candy Man Rocket (Candy Ride), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2023 Runhappy, 2021 Sam F. Davis), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Payson Park on Tuesday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 11 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed third in the John A. Nerud (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Belmont Park on July 1 for trainer Bill Mott.

Big Invasion (Declaration of War), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Quick Call), worked three furlongs in 39.8 seconds at Payson Park on Tuesday morning. It was the only work at the distance.
