Tuesday tab: Atone tunes up for Pegasus Turf defense
Atone worked at Gulfstream Park on Tuesday, five days ahead of his pursuit of a second strait win in the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Turf.
The 7-year-old gelding breezed four furlongs in 48.95 seconds, the fourth fastest of eight works at the distance.
Atone, trained by Mike Maker, has gone 0-for-6 since winning last year's Pegasus Turf. He dropped out of graded-stakes company for his last start, rallying to finish third in an optional-claiming allowance.

Atone was one of nine graded-stakes winners with published works on Tuesday.
Aspen Grove (Justify), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Belmont Oaks Invitational), worked five furlongs in 1:04.0 at Glen Hill Farm on Tuesday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Glen Hill Farm. In her last start she placed sixth in the E. P. Taylor (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Woodbine on Oct. 8 for trainer Jack Sisterson.
Atone (Into Mischief), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational), worked four furlongs in 48.9 seconds at Gulfstream Park on Tuesday morning. It was the fourth fastest of eight works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Gulfstream Park. In his last start he placed third in an allowance race going one mile on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Dec. 2 for trainer Mike Maker.
Durante (Distorted Humor), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Bold Ruler), worked four furlongs in 50.5 seconds at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning. It was the 89th fastest of 105 works at the distance. His previous work was five days ago going three furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed third in the Gravesend going six furlongs on the main track at Aqueduct on Dec. 30 for trainer David Jacobson.
Lady Radler (Kantharos), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Dogwood), worked five furlongs in 1:02.0 at Tampa Bay Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the fastest of seven works at the distance. Her previous work was 18 days ago going four furlongs at Tampa Bay Downs. In her last start she placed sixth in the Raven Run (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 21 for trainer Michael Campbell.
Liberal Arts (Arrogate), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Street Sense), worked four furlongs in 47.0 seconds at The Thoroughbred Center on Tuesday morning. It was the second fastest of 49 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going four furlongs at The Thoroughbred Center.
