Tuesday tab: 7 graded winners + 1 Kentucky Derby hopeful

Nine-year-old Master Piece, who hasn't raced since finishing ninth in the Grade 2 Red Smith on Nov. 9, is back at work for trainer Rick Dutrow.

The ridgling by Mastercraftsman breezed four furlongs in 51.8 seconds Tuesday. morning at Belmont Park, the fifth fastest of six at the distance. Master Piece, winner of three graded stakes, returned to the tab March 5. His Tuesday drill was his third and his first at four furlongs after going three since his returned.

One Kentucky Derby hopeful worked Tuesday. Surfside Moon, second last out to Captain Cook in the Withers on Feb. 1, drilled for the first time since that start, breezing three furlongs in 37.4 seconds on the Fair Hill synthetic surface. It was the only work at the distance. Trained by Chuckie Lawrence, Surfside Moon has a record of 6: 1-1-1.

Seven graded-stakes winners had published works Tuesday.

Master Piece (Mastercraftsman), a three-time Grade 2 winner (2024 Fort Marcy, 2023 Red Smith, 2022 Eddie Read), worked four furlongs in 51.8 seconds at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning. It was the fifth fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going three furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed ninth in the Red Smith (G2) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Aqueduct on Nov. 9 for trainer Rick Dutrow.

Nothing Like You (Malibu Moon), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2024 Santa Anita Oaks, 2023 Starlet), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Los Alamitos on Tuesday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 18 works at the distance. Her previous work was 13 days ago going four furlongs at Los Alamitos. In her last start she placed fourth in the Zenyatta (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Sept. 29 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Dicey Mo Chara (Adaay), a Grade 2 winner (2022 San Gabriel), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Tuesday morning. It was the fourth fastest of five works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed seventh in the San Marcos (G3) going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on Feb. 8 for trainer Leonard Powell.

Un Ojo (Laoban), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Rebel), worked five furlongs in 1:01.2 at Evangeline Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the fastest of four works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at The Training Center At Copper Crowne. In his last start he placed third in an allowance race going one mile on the main track at Aqueduct on Jan. 27 for trainer Linda Rice.

Hope Road (Quality Road), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2024 Bayakoa, 2024 Torrey Pines), worked five furlongs in 1:02.4 at Santa Anita on Tuesday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 16 works at the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she placed second in the Santa Monica (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Feb. 1 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Iron Man Cal (Collected), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Zuma Beach), worked four furlongs in 50.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Tuesday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf going one mile on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 1 for trainer Phil D'Amato.

One Magic Philly (Good Magic), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Chillingworth), worked three furlongs in 36.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Tuesday morning. It was the second fastest of four works at the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going three furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she placed sixth in the La Brea (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Dec. 26 for trainer Phil D'Amato.
