Trujillo Returns to Saddle Friday

Jockey Elvis Trujillo, sidelined for nearly three months after breaking his collarbone in a freak accident, returns to riding today at Gulfstream Park.

Trujillo is named to ride two horses Friday and is named on Giancarlo Saturday in the $100,000 Pasco at Tampa Bay Downs.

"It's been three months, but he's doing well and is excited about returning," said Trujillo's agent Cliff Collier. "You know, it was such a freak thing. He had ridden a race on the turf (Oct. 13) , was galloping back after the race, and before he dismounted the horse stumbled and he fell."

Trujillo is named today on Prickly Pear in the first race and Be My Love in the fifth. A native of Panama City, Panama, Trujillo was in the top 10 last winter at Gulfstream in wins and money won. He won the Holy Bull (G2) aboard Itsmyluckyday and the Dania Beach with Mystic Love.
