Troubleshooting, Foley's 1st Grade 1 winner, will aim for Keeneland
Troubleshooting, who gave trainer Greg Foley his first Grade 1 winner when scoring in the Franklin-Simpson at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 6, will make his next start in the Bryan Station (G3) at Keeneland on Oct. 25.
"It is a mile, which I don't think it'll be any problem for him," Foley told Horse Racing Nation on Monday.
Troubleshooting, a 3-year-old Donamire Farm homebred by Not This Time, broke his maiden in his 2025 debut at Keeneland in April after three attempts last year. He won the Franklin-Simpson at 6 1/2 furlongs by 1 1/2 lengths despite being bumped at the start. He also won the black-type Dade Park Dash at Ellis Park in July on his way to compiling a 6: 3-2-0 record so far this year.
Foley said winning his first Grade 1 was "was really nice, especially when you get a $2 million purse attached to it. Made it even that much better."
Troubleshooting is "coming out of the race great," Foley said. "He's doing all good. We were very proud of his race. Nice colt."
Troubleshooting is out of Donamire Farm's Into Trouble, and Foley trains two of his half-siblings also bred by Donamire.
Two-year-old Trouble Calling, by Dialed In, debuted Friday at Churchill Downs and rallied to finish third.
"A little green," Foley said. "He got loose actually in the post parade and luckily didn't get scratched. Ran very well. He'll run back over at Keeneland and be double tough."
And 4-year-old Big Trouble, by Kantharos, has finished in the money in three starts this year, most recently in April, but is looking for her first win since breaking her maiden in February 2024.
"Nice filly," Foley said. "We gave her a little break here this spring."
She's been working at Churchill Downs and breezed four furlongs Monday in 48.8 seconds. Her next start will be Sept. 24 at Churchill.
