The Triple Crown Tracker checks in with the horses who raced in the 2025 Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont, keeping up with what they have done since the classics.

2025 Kentucky Derby

Burnham Square continues his ascent to the top of the long-distance turf division. Coming off of a dominant victory in the Grade 2 Elkhorn at Keeneland in April, he returned in the Louisville (G3) on Saturday at Churchill Downs. Settled off the pace in the field of six, the Ian Wilkes trainee chased off a comfortable pace, got going around the third and final turn, and rolled clear late to win by 4 3/4 lengths. It's his second graded-stakes win in a row, and both races covered 1 1/2 miles on the lawn.

Two others from the 2025 Kentucky Derby recently made good account of themselves in allowance company.

Tiztastic lined up for a 1 1/8-mile allowance-optional claimer on the Churchill Downs dirt on May 9, in under the third-level condition. Settled in last early, the Steve Asmussen trainee rallied into the lane, battled with favored Gould's Gold mid-stretch, and put him away late to win by 1 1/4 lengths. The victory was Tiztastic's first since his Louisiana Derby (G2) triumph in March 2025.

Render Judgment raced Thursday in a first-level allowance going 1 1/8 miles on the dirt at Churchill Downs. The Kenny McPeek trainee made a rally from midfield, but was ultimately held at bay, crossing the wire second behind the more forwardly placed Master Controller. It was Render Judgment's second straight runner-up finish in allowance company.

2025 Preakness Stakes

Pay Billy made his first start outside the mid-Atlantic circuit on May 1, lining up for an allowance-optional claimer going 1 1/8 miles on the Belmont at Aqueduct dirt. Always near the rear of the five-horse field, he finished fifth and last, 16 3/4 lengths behind gate-to-wire winner Phileas Fogg.

River Thames, the only competitor who has yet to race since the 2025 Preakness, returned to the work tab for his first drills since January. He went three furlongs at WinStar Training Center on May 9, and returned for a four-furlong drill there on Friday.

Gosger, who was second in an allowance-optional claimer in his seasonal debut March 21 at Gulfstream, will not race again. He broke both of the sesamoids in his right front leg, according to a report at BloodHorse, and is currently recovering from surgery to repair the injury.

2025 Belmont Stakes

The top three horses from the 2025 Belmont Stakes continue on the work tab and are preparing for major late-spring or early-summer destinations. Sovereignty and Baeza, now stablemates in the Bill Mott barn, both worked Saturday at Saratoga. Both are being pointed to a blockbuster edition of the Stephen Foster (G1) at Churchill Downs on June 27, where they are expected to clash with White Abarrio.

Journalism is also actively on the worktab, with his last drill coming Friday at Santa Anita. He won't be in the Stephen Foster fray – instead, trainer Michael McCarthy plans to shorten him up for the Met Mile (G1) at Saratoga on Belmont Stakes day, June 6.
