The Triple Crown Tracker checks in with the horses who raced in the 2026 Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont, keeping up with what they have done since the classics.

2026 Kentucky Derby

The five Belmont Stakes entrants coming from the Kentucky Derby were the first five horses across the wire when all was said and done. They were led by Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo, who vindicated trainer Cherie DeVaux's decision to send him straight to the Belmont by unleashing another last-to-first rally to get up by a length over Commandment, who rebounded nicely from his troubled Derby to finish second in the final jewel of the Triple Crown. Renegade was outkicked in the lane and crossed the wire third, four lengths behind Commandment but still 3 1/2 ahead of Chief Wallabee in fourth. After stumbling at the start and being wide on the turns, Emerging Market flattened out to finish fifth, a half-length behind Chief Wallabee.

Six Speed also raced on Belmont day, though he shortened up to seven furlongs for the Woody Stephens (G1). Making his first start since a move to the George Weaver barn, he uncharacteristically sat near the back of the field, never made a run and was eased to finish eighth behind Englishman, Golden Tempo's stablemate from the DeVaux barn.

Another three horses who ran in the Kentucky Derby raced in the Matt Winn (G3) on June 7. Further Ado, sent off the odds-on favorite despite finishing 11th as the Kentucky Derby chalk, got back into winning form. He stalked the early pace and ran on for a two-length victory. Potente passed tiring horses to be fourth, 11 3/4 lengths behind Further Ado. Pavlovian set the early pace but weakened to seventh.

Litmus Test had been entered in the Delaware Derby but was scratched from that to run in Monday's Affirmed Stakes at Santa Anita instead. He stalked off the leading pair early but came up empty approaching the lane and finished fifth, 6 1/4 lengths behind Secured Freedom.

Looking ahead to Saturday, three Kentucky Derby horses, Ocelli, Robusta and Albus, are entered in the Ohio Derby (G3) at Thistledown. Ocelli and Robusta are making their first starts since the Preakness; Albus has freshened up since the Kentucky Derby.

2026 Preakness Stakes

After finishing 10th as the Preakness favorite, Taj Mahal shortened to one turn for the Woody Stephens at Saratoga on the Belmont Stakes undercard. He chased mid-pack for the first few furlongs but dropped back and was eased to finish ninth and last behind Englishman.

Corona de Oro returned June 7 in the Matt Winn, his first start since an 11th-place finish in the Preakness. The Dallas Stewart trainee tracked close to the pace early, made a bid on the far turn but flattened out in the lane and finished fifth, 12 1/4 lengths behind winner Further Ado.

The Preakness will be strongly represented Saturday in the Ohio Derby. In addition to Ocelli and Robusta, Chip Honcho and Bull by the Horns also will return at Thistledown for their first start since the second jewel of the Triple Crown.

2026 Belmont Stakes

With the Belmont just being about a week and a half out, none of the Belmont runners have returned to action yet. But many of them probably will return to the work tab in the next few weeks to start working toward summer goals.
