The Triple Crown Tracker checks in with the horses who raced in the 2024 Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont, keeping up with what they have done since the classics.

2024 Kentucky Derby

Five entrants from the 2024 Kentucky Derby have returned to action in recent weeks. Domestic Product found the winners' circle for the first time since the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby in the Dwyer (G3) on July 6, tracking the pace and drawing off to win by 7 1/2 lengths over Hades.

Stronghold returned for his first race since the Kentucky Derby in the Indiana Derby (G3) on July 6, dealing with a troubled trip and chasing on for second behind wire-to-wire winner Dragoon Guard. Just a Touch was also second in a regional derby on the same day, prompting the pace and being outfinished by a head by Henro in the Iowa Derby. Mugatu, toward the rear early, crossed the wire fifth in the Iowa Derby.

Endlessly, who made his dirt debut in the Kentucky Derby, returned to the lawn for the Belmont Derby (G1) on July 6. He chased at the rear of a compact field but did not kick on in the lane behind a slow pace. He finished fifth and last, 3 1/2 lengths behind winner Trikari.

2024 Preakness Stakes

Uncle Heavy returned to action June 22 alongside Catching Freedom in the Ohio Derby (G3) at Thistledown. Uncle Heavy settled at the rear of the field. Perhaps compromised by winner Batten Down being left on an uncontested lead, he never contested and crossed the wire fifth of six, 7 1/4 lengths behind fourth-place Catching Freedom, who was also pace-compromised.

2024 Belmont Stakes

Several runners in the Belmont have returned to the work tab, and one has returned to the races. Protective, the lone maiden in the Belmont field, dropped back down to maiden special weight company Sunday at Saratoga. Sent off the odds-on favorite in the 1 1/8-mile dirt race, he tracked the leading duo off a modest pace. In the end he could not reel in Itza Mirrakle and had to settle for second two lengths behind the winner.
