Trezza Texts His Victory in DerbyWars' $20K Game

Anthony Trezza of Denville, New Jersey has some extra cash in his stocking this year after taking home the first prize in DerbyWars' $20,000 Saturday Game this weekend!
Trezza, known as "Youare2020" on the leaderboard, described his plan of attack:
"This win I call the 'power of positive thinking'," he said. "Every handicapper goes through streaks and you just hope that your good streaks outlast the bad ones. Sometimes you question your skills and the last few weeks had been rough going for me. But I realized between professional and personal obligations that I had not been 100% focused throughout those tournaments. Picking horses in between patients, during school plays and on the highway is not the optimal way of handicapping.
"Saturday morning though, I woke up and texted my DerbyWars buddies - Steve Bocchino "stevieb" and Gerard Cadorette "Gerard1" and said.. "Good morning! Today I will take take down the 20K".  So after sending a message like that, I knew I had to back up those words!"
If only everyone's texts turned out as well as Trezza's!
"After basically eight chalky races, I was lurking pretty close but knew I had to start hitting some winners. I picked three of the next four winners and climbed within $2.80 of the leader Joe Scanio "Trots". The last race was pretty wide open. I was looking to make sure that I picked a horse that I trusted to at least finish 2nd and give me a chance.  I was assuming that Joe was going with the favorite #6 Fleeting Image to try to block me and I assumed correctly. I went with the #3 Land On It and the rest was history. Scanio was so tough that I had to score in 8 of the 13
races and pick 6 winners to nip him."

Trezza's final score was $121.80 to take home the $7,125 cash prize and earn an entry into the $100K game. In second was Joe Scanio (trots) with $111.20 for the $2,650 cash prize, and Bob Blundell (medicor1) with $92.80 to finish third, for $1,275 in cash. Marc Verderame (verde1286) finished fourth with a final score of $87 to cash out $1,000. All of the top 4 earn entries to the $100K game - which begins the day after Christmas!
"Playing with some of the best handicappers in the world at DerbyWars can sometimes knock you down, but its how you get off that mat that counts!" said Trezza. "Since joining in May I have knocked down a few 10K's, a 15K and now a 20K, next up the two day 100K! Lets see if my DerbyWars buddies get another text on December 26th!"
