Travers Stakes 2017: Post Positions and Odds
Tapwrit, the Belmont Stakes winner is the 7-2 morning line favorite for Saturday’s Grade 1 Travers Stakes presented by NYRA Bets and will leave from post four.
The Travers will be the first start for Tapwrit since his Belmont win and marks the third straight Grade 1 race for the Tapit colt. Following a respectable sixth in the Kentucky Derby, Todd Pletcher decided to skip the Preakness Stakes with Tapwrit, who then captured the Belmont with a two-length win.

The 4-1 second choice is West Coast, who drew post three. The son of Flatter enters off three straight wins, including the Easy Goer Stakes and the Grade 3 Los Alamitos Derby. While his recent form has been impressive, the Travers will present his deepest competition yet.
Good Samaritan, winner of the Grade 2 Jim Dandy in his dirt debut, is the third choice at 5-1. The Harlan’s Holiday colt drew post five next to the favorites. Good Samaritan has the advantage of recently obtaining a win over the Saratoga track, where he beat the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winners last out.
Always Dreaming will be looking for his first win since the Kentucky Derby as the 6-1 fourth choice from post seven. The Bodemeister colt tried to wire the Preakness field, but came up empty and faded to eighth. He was third last out in the Jim Dandy, beaten 5 ¼ lengths.
Irap, who enters off wins in the Grade 3 Ohio Derby and Grade 3 Indiana Derby, and Preakness winner Cloud Computing, last out fifth in the Jim Dandy, are 8-1 on the morning line. The one-two finishers of the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational, Girvin and McCraken, are 10-1 and 12-1 respectively.
