With a victory by Masio in the 7th race at Parx Sunday afternoon, trainer Richard Vega reached a career milestone with his 1000th win. Vega has been a fixture on the local racing seen since taking his first license here in 1992.

A Cuban native, he first came to the U.S. in 1980 and began as a groom and a hot walker in Florida and eventually worked himself into an assistant’s position with trainer Al Hinson.

He then moved here to the Philadelphia area in 1984 and has been here ever since.
