Trainer Jeff Mullins was fined and suspended by the California Horse Racing Board after a positive finding for the prohibited medication clenbuterol.

Mullins was suspended for 30 days, with 15 days suspended, and fined $1,500. The suspension began Monday and will continue through Feb. 7, according to the ruling. With the 15 suspended days, he can resume training on Jan. 24. Mullins also is on probation for one year.

The punishments were determined through a settlement agreement and mutual release between Mullins and the CHRB, according to the ruling.

Clenbuterol was detected in Inch, a now-6-year-old gelding, after he won the sixth race at Del Mar on Aug. 25, according to the ruling.

Daily Racing Form reported that Mullins's son, Jeff Jr., will take over training.

In Del Mar's meet that ran from July to September, Mullins had a record of 53: 9-8-4, putting him at 10th place in the trainers standings. In the current meet at Santa Anita, his record is 19: 2-5-4.
