Trainer Mel Stute, seventh on the all time list at Betfair
Hollywood Park with 575 wins, was resting comfortably Sunday morning at
Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after falling in his home Saturday night.
“He bumped his head pretty hard and there was a little bleeding into the brain,” said Stute’s wife, Annabelle. “He’s coherent and talking to the doctors and nurses. So far, so good, but they’re going to do a CAT scan just to be sure.”
Stute, 85, has won three training titles at Betfair
Hollywood Park. He won the Spring/Summer season in 1983 and lead the Autumn meet
two years in a row (1984-1985).
