Rice joins the Phoenix Ladies Syndicate training roster
Multiple Grade 1-winning trainer Linda Rice has joined the training roster of Dubai-based Phoenix Ladies Syndicate.
Rice will oversee the careers of three of the group's runners, among them a juvenile filly named Wild America. The most expensive horse purchased to date by the all-female group, she's out of winning mare Wild Bout Tiffany and from the same family as multiple graded-stakes winner Mr Livingston.
"We received our first horse this week in Wild America," Rice said in a news release. "She is a beautiful American Pharoah filly with a lot of potential. We are hoping for great things in our new venture together."
Based at Belmont Park, Rice has a record of 2,018 wins in 10,861 starts in her 33-year career, and earnings of $81.5 million. Her record so far this year is 162: 28-23-30.
"We're delighted to have such a talented trainer join our team," Pamela Cordina, principal of Phoenix Ladies Syndicate, said in the release. "We have watched her achievements and you can't fail to be impressed with her record. It's great we have some good horses to send her, and we look forward to the future with great optimism."
Also joining Rice's PLS ranks will be a Will Take Charge colt out of Contract, who can number G1 winner Sea Hero among his family members, and a Declaration of War filly out of Kaloura, whose family tree includes multiple G1 winner Kalanisi.
