Eton Ridge used a furious burst of speed in the final furlong in Thursday night’s seventh race, rolling to a sharp two-length win. The score was the 400th victory at Remington Park for Clinton Stuart.

A mainstay in Oklahoma City since the early days of Remington Park, Stuart won his 400th local race in a $20,000-level claiming event at seven furlongs. The race carried a purse of $24,951. Sad Sac Racing of Edmond, Okla. owned Eton Ridge, who was ridden by David Cabrera. With the win, Eton Ridge won his seventh career race from 29 attempts and earned $13,986 to run his bankroll to $155,498.

A 5-year-old gelding by Stephen Got Even from the Smart Strike mare Josaka, the Kentucky-bred Eton Ridge was claimed out of his Thursday win, for $20,000, by trainer Steve Asmussen for owner Maggi Moss of Des Moines, Iowa.

Through the years, Stuart has maintained a solid stable covering all classes of horses. War Thief was his top stakes horse locally, winning the Remington Park Oaks in 1995 and going on to be a graded stakes winner elsewhere. Other stakes winners at Remington Park for Stuart include: Phantom Trip, 2016 Oklahoma Classics Cup; Royal Lion, 2015 Don McNeill Memorial Stakes; Bella Paella, 2015 Useeit Stakes; and Pesky Rascal, 1997 Oklahoma Classics Juvenile to name a few.

Eton Ridge gave Cabrera his third win on Thursday night at Remington Park. The Cabrera hat trick started with Welsh Wizard ($8.20 to win) in race three, followed by Notionalist ($14.60) in race five, then Eton Ridge. Cabrera now has 14 wins for the season and is second in the jockey standings behind Richard Eramia who has 18.
