It was a light day on the Derby works front. The fields were drawn for the Timely Writer, Tampa Bay Derby, and San Felipe. 2-year-old champ Uncle Mo will be the overwhelming choice against five overmatched rivals in the Timely Writer. Brethren is the one to beat in the Tampa Bay Derby, and Jaycito makes his much anticipated return in the San Felipe.
#80 Fort Larned – 5f (turf) in 1:02 (12/15) at Palm Meadows.
#85 Decisive Moment – 5f in 1:03.60 (2/8) at Calder.

Crimson China (#22) breezed 5f (turf) in 1:06 (11/12) at Palm Meadows on 3-7. Leave of Absence (#124) went 4f (turf) in :48.30 (2/16) at Palm Meadows. Gangsterontherun (#128) uncorked a 5f bullet in :59.20 (1/25) at Gulfstream. Lil Bit O’ Fun (#139) traveled 4f in :50.20 (19/35) at Tampa Bay.
Notes:
Uncle Mo was cross-entered in the Timely Writer and Tampa Bay Derby but is expected to run in the one-mile Gulfstream event. His undefeated stablemate Brethren tries to run his record to 4-for-4 in the Tampa Bay Derby. BC Juvenile Turf hero Pluck is also cross-entered at Gulfstream (G3 Palm Beach) and Tampa Bay (turf allowance) on Saturday. The San Felipe attracted a field of ten including Comma To The Top and Jaycito.
