Today's Derby contender works included a seven panel drill from Astrology. The 2010 Iroquois hero is expected to make his seasonal bow in the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park on March 19. Promising John Shirreffs trainee Mr. Commons worked four furlongs at Hollywood Park and might take a shot at the Santa Anita Derby in April.

Fair Grounds Race Course has rescheduled the Grindstone Stakes for March 12. A field of eight has been entered including Aces N Kings and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf show finisher Willcox Inn. Positive Response exited his romping Battaglia Memorial wire job tally in fine order and will go next in Turfway’s Spiral Stakes on March 26.
