Toccoa Wins at Colonial Downs
Local stable Eagle Point Farm’s homebred Toccoa found the winners’ circle for the fifth time in the third race at Colonial Downs on Tuesday.
Trained by Karen Dennehy Godsey and ridden by regular rider Geovany Garcia, Toccoa took the third race after shifting wide around the far turn and closing determinedly in the final jumps to overtake Miss Lucy Mae and Darci. The mare, who was bet down to favorite status, won by a neck in a time of 1:03.22. Marciella, French Social, and Princess Annabel rounded out the field.
A nine year old by Purple Comet out of a Magic Prospect mare, Toccoa has six wins in 30 lifetime starts and has run twenty-two times at the New Kent oval. Her success at the track is apparent, having finished out of the money only six times and earning the title of second leading horse at the track in 2005. With the win today, she has surpassed the $100,000 earnings mark.
Live racing at Colonial Downs will continue Wednesday, June 9th with a post time of 4:00 PM.
