Tizmas Kicks Clear at Monmouth Park
Mr. Amore Stable’s Tizmas established a lead up the backstretch before kicking clear of his rivals in the lane to post a three-length victory in the $37,800 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday.
Ridden by Gabriel Saez, Tizmas went the mile and a sixteenth over a fast main track in 1:43 4/5 and paid $5.80, $3.80 and $2.60 as the second-choice in the field of six colts and geldings. Fightertown rallied to complete the $60.20 exacta and returned $7 and $3. It was another nose back to post-time favorite On the Loose Again, who paid $2.20 to show.
“He’s a really nice looking big horse,” said winning trainer Jason Servis. “Gabriel rode him great. He’s the type that if you try to take a hold or fight him, it’s just not going to work out. Everything certainly worked out today. I think we’ll look to the Claiming Crown (Dec. 6 at Gulfstream Park).”
A 5-year-old gelding by Tiznow from the Forestry mare Christmas Jones, Tizmas has won seven of his 31 starts.
