Thursday works: White Abarrio leads 14 graded winners
White Abarrio drilled at Saratoga on Thursday ahead of his start next week in the Grade 1 Met Mile.
The 6-year-old son of Race Day breezed four furlongs in 47.8 seconds, fifth fastest of 16 at the distance. It was his third work at Saratoga this month.
White Abarrio was fifth in the Met Mile last year, and then trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. gave him a break. Since he returned, he has won three of four starts, including victories in the Pegasus World Cup (G1) and Ghostzapper (G3).
Also working Thursday was Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Good Cheer, who is 7-for-7 for trainer Brad Cox. She breezed five furlongs in 1:00.2 at Churchill Downs, fifth fastest of eight at the distance. Cox said after the Oaks that she was possible for the Acorn (G1) next Friday.
