Thursday works: White Abarrio leads 14 graded winners

White Abarrio drilled at Saratoga on Thursday ahead of his start next week in the Grade 1 Met Mile.

The 6-year-old son of Race Day breezed four furlongs in 47.8 seconds, fifth fastest of 16 at the distance. It was his third work at Saratoga this month.

White Abarrio was fifth in the Met Mile last year, and then trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. gave him a break. Since he returned, he has won three of four starts, including victories in the Pegasus World Cup (G1) and Ghostzapper (G3).

Also working Thursday was Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Good Cheer, who is 7-for-7 for trainer Brad Cox. She breezed five furlongs in 1:00.2 at Churchill Downs, fifth fastest of eight at the distance. Cox said after the Oaks that she was possible for the Acorn (G1) next Friday.

In his last start he won the Ghostzapper (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Gulfstream Park on March 29 for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

Beyond Brilliant (Twirling Candy), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Hollywood Derby), worked four furlongs in 47.6 seconds at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 23 works at the distance. His previous work was 14 days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed second in the Seabiscuit Handicap (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 26 for trainer John Shirreffs.

La Cara (Street Sense), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Ashland), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Saratoga on Thursday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 16 works at the distance. Her previous work was 11 days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In her last start she placed ninth in the Kentucky Oaks (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 2 for trainer Mark Casse.

Major Dude (Bolt d'Oro), a three-time Grade 2 winner (2024 Fort Lauderdale, 2023 Penn Mile, 2022 Pilgrim), worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Saratoga on Thursday morning. It was the fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga.
