Thursday works: Pletcher stars lead 13 graded-stakes winners

Fierceness worked Thursday at Saratoga for the first time since winning the Grade 1 Pacific Classic on Aug. 30 and earning an automatic berth in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

The 4-year-old City of Light colt breezed four furlongs in 50.34 seconds on the Saratoga dirt training track, 23rd fastest of 41 works at the distance for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Antiquarian, also a Pletcher trainee who qualified for the Breeders' Cup Classic with his win in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1), breezed Thursday as well. The 4-year-old Preservationist colt went four furlongs in 50-82 seconds, 31st fastest of 41 at the distance.

Mindframe, who lost his rider in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, also worked four furlongs for Pletcher at Saratoga, breezing four furlongs in 49.77 seconds, 11th fastest of the 41 at the distance.

They were among 13 graded-stakes winners with published works Thursday.

Fierceness (City of Light), a four-time Grade 1 winner, worked four furlongs in 50.3 seconds at Saratoga on Thursday morning. It was the 23rd fastest of 41 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Pacific Classic (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Del Mar on Aug. 30 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Mindframe (Constitution), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2025 Stephen Foster, 2025 Churchill Downs), worked four furlongs in 49.7 seconds at Saratoga on Thursday morning. It was the 11th fastest of 41 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed eighth in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 31 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Antiquarian (Preservationist), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Jockey Club Gold Cup), worked four furlongs in 50.8 seconds at Saratoga on Thursday morning. It was the 31st fastest of 41 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 31 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Nitrogen (Medaglia d'Oro), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Alabama), worked four furlongs in 48.2 seconds at Churchill Downs on Thursday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 32 works at the distance. Her previous work was 10 days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In her last start she won the Alabama (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 16 for trainer Mark Casse.

Tappan Street (Into Mischief), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Florida Derby), worked three furlongs in 38.0 seconds at Winstar Training Center on Thursday morning. It was the slowest of four works at the distance. His previous work was 145 days ago going five furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he won the Florida Derby (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Gulfstream Park on March 29 for trainer Brad Cox.

Tommy Jo (Into Mischief), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Spinaway), worked four furlongs in 48.3 seconds at Saratoga on Thursday morning. It was the second fastest of 41 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she won the Spinaway (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 30 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Bring Theband Home (Into Mischief), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Troy), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Woodbine on Thursday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 26 works at the distance. Gun Song (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Black-Eyed Susan), worked five furlongs in 1:02.4 at Belmont Park on Thursday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 16 works at the distance.
